Billy Carson examines mainstream evolutionary theory and argues it leaves out evidence he considers pivotal. He walks through Charles Darwin's biography, from his 1809 birth in Shrewsbury through the voyage of HMS Beagle to the 1882 publication that shaped "On the Origin of Species," then turns to the 1974 discovery of the hominid skeleton nicknamed Lucy by Donald Johanson and Tom Gray in Hadar, Ethiopia. He contends that a roughly forty percent complete skeleton cannot settle the larger question of human origins. He reads from Sumerian tablet accounts, including material he calls the Epic of Atrahasis, describing the Anunnaki and Igigi laboring for a span he calculates using the ancient measure of one shar, equal to 3,600 years, and the deities Enki, Enlil, Anu and Ninurta dividing the earth, sky and sea and digging the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. He also references an old experiment claiming spontaneously formed microscopic life, and draws a distinction between microevolution, which he accepts, and macroevolution, which he disputes.
